we have stayed here several times before and have always been impressed, this was another occasion. The Hotel is so well place for us as its so near to all the shopping areas and restaurants we love it. We had a superior room and it was kept very clean and tidy by our maid Farfan, thank you.
As other guest have stated there are at the moment rod works going on outside but the double glazing does work but we were on the 4th floor so I think lower floors would suffer more, so take earplugs as we always do on Hotel breaks.
We had the breakfast too which we had not done before and I must admit the quantity and quality is well worth it, ours was inclusive in our booking so check your price if you are unsure.
We did have to use the gratis umbrella in our room, really good touch.
Did notice that alot more Brits are now using this lovely base.
The staff as usual were exemplary thank you.It did not start so well. The outside entrance of the hotel was a mess thanks to major sidewalk renovations (obviously not the hotel's fault), and our first reaction to the modern dark timber framing used in the hotel was negative too. From there on it got better, and we ended up being happy with our choice of hotel.
Unless you're chasing Costa Brava beaches, the location is really good, close to the cathedral, main street, Alcazaba, several galleries etc. For food there are many little open-air eateries within 5-10 mins walk, and the hotel breakfasts were not bad either. The breakfast choices (included in our package) were pretty good if not particularly wide, and the coffee machines very good. The 8th floor has a small open-air pool and barbecue area, with views of the port and cathedral. The staff were pleasant and helpful, perhaps a little impersonal compared with our 2 previous boutique-style hotels.
The room was quite well set up and included a room safe, small frig and electric jug with the usual tea bags, coffee sachets and minute UHT milk containers (but the restaurant were happy to give us a jug of milk on request.) Our room overlooked the side calle, which could be noisy but was not loud enough to disturb us at night. The less-than-lightproof curtains did not worry us either; the element of street lighting that filtered through made a pleasant night light. The bed was comfortable. There was no separate shower, but a straightforward hand / wall shower in the bath worked fine, except that the bath could be slippery. The hotel will do laundry, but also provided a small laundry line in the bathroom. Wifi was good but not secure.
Another good value choice, made with the help of previous TripAdvisor reviewers!
