Great service, great location

As the first destination of a two week trip around Vietnam, we could not have asked for a better start. With such a sensory overload upon arrival in the country, the Essence offers some sanctuary from it all but is still slap bang in the midst of a fantastically vibrant city.
We stayed for a night before heading to Halong Bay, leaving our bags in the dare of the Essence, then returned for another night when we got an upgrade. Both rooms were great and very very quiet considering the cacophony of Hanoi life just metres from your room.
The service was fantastic: the reception team organised a taxi to pick us up in Danang for our next stay in Hoi An and we were surprised to get a phone call one we were in the cab, asking if we'd been picked up ok and everything was alright-just lovely.
Breakfast was good, the team gave us great advice upon arrival as to where everything was and its based in a great location right by beer corner which is an experience all if it's own! What's not to like!

Stayed March 2015, travelled as a couple

This hotel really is in the middle of things for Hanoi's Old Quarter! The service you get is fantastic, much more suited to a 5 star hotel. Check in was very nice and easy, the staff make the effort to really make you feel comfortable.
I booked into a Junior Suite, which was a great space, very elegantly decorated with everything you could need. There was an offer when booking that gave you free minibar (excellent, but no alcohol), a free bottle of wine and free laundry service which was a really nice touch, and very useful!
The hotel itself is quite narrow but the rooms certainly do not show this.
The restaurant serves great food, both at breakfast and dinner and there's even a mini gift shop and someone to book tours with. It really has everything you could need, and it's on the doorstep of beer corner too which is great fun of an evening! There's a vibrant atmosphere in the area, and considering it is lively and busy outside, you As the first destination of a two week trip around Vietnam, we could not have asked for a better start.
